Packing Time!!
You only take ONE backpack for 3 week.....how can you do that?!?
This is the third time we have planned a 3 week trip away in the last 5 years and this is the question I get asked most.
I'll admit, the first time my guy told me about only taking a 🎒 I had no idea how I would be able to do it. Now, I won't travel any other way!! To be clear I do have another purse size bag that holds anything I need on the airplane and my camera. Our goal is to not check any luggage!
The backpack I use and have now talked my parents into using is the Osprey Porter 46. I can't recommend it enough, I'm in my 5th year of use and it has little sign of wear and tear. What I love most about this backpack is how roomy it is without being bulky. The zipper opening is on the front, so I wouldn't say it is a bag that can be easily accessed during travel. There is a top compartment for easy access. Like I said I do take a smaller bag with all my airplane needs so once my backpack is packed up I don't usually get into it until we reach our destination.
This is all the stuff I pack in my backpack. I only pack clothes I can mix and match. This way I can get the most use out of every piece of clothing.
The list includes the following:
5 shirts and a sleep shirt in the packing cube.
2 dresses - one short and one long
2 pairs of shorts
A pair of 😴 pants
7 pairs of underwear
2 bathing suits
1 travel towel
2 pairs of Birkenstocks
Contacts
Makeup
Toiletries bag
Beach hat
Charging cords
Plug in adapter
This is what it looks like all packed up. I still have plenty of room for souvenirs.
In my smaller bag I carry my camera, journal, portable charger, kindle, prescription glasses, 1 pair of contacts, sunglasses, and my wallet.
My travel outfit for this trip is a pair of linen blend pants, tank top, button up shirt that doubles as a cover up for the plane and the beach, and my favorite Vans slip-ons. Again the pieces in this outfit go with everything else I have packed so I will have the ability to add them into the outfit rotation.
The idea of only traveling with a backpack for any amount of time might not seem doable but it totally is, I promise!!
When I went to Mexico two years ago I only took a backpack and my purse. I still found that I had packed way too much once I was there. It was awesome not having to wait for checked luggage.
ReplyDeleteHave a great, event-filled, trip!
ReplyDeleteYea it is!! I definitely prefer carrying a backpack instead of rolling a suitcase too!
