Setting boundaries with those around you is the best thing you can do to take care of yourself.
Having said that, it can also cause some stress and will most likely strain some relationships in your life. My message this week is this.....do it anyway....it is worth it! :)
In the last several years I have set limits and boundaries with essentially everyone in my life, in regard to how I will allow myself to be treated and the kinds of relationships I want in my life. I truly believe that is one of the reasons why my life has changed for the better.
Recently I have come to realize there are a couple of people in my life I have yet to set appropriate boundaries with. Why didn't I set boundaries with them? I have been asking myself that question over the last few weeks, I think it had to do with the fact that both people play roles in my life that are significant but for totally different reasons. I don't want to get into too many details here out of respect for them and for my relationship with them, but suffice to say I have set some limits and boundaries where I needed to and I know it is what is best for me.....sure it is uncomfortable and hard to do but everything will work itself out and we will all be better for it, at least that is my hope.
As with all things, when I know I am coming from a good place, no matter what others try to project on me.....I can walk away from anything feeling OK and knowing I am doing what is best for me and my relationships.
Setting boundaries with yourself and the people in your life is healthy and needed, don't let anyone make you feel bad about doing what you need to take care of you!
